Longtime Favorite

I started reading this book about twelve years ago. I was 12. I was hooked on this book from page one. The book fell apart from age, so I was not able to finish reading it. I recently located this book again at a local used bookstore. Ecstatically, I began to reread this book. Willow is a strong character. She is a great heroine in this book. The book is well written and keeps you hooked til the very end, leaving you wanting more. I highly recommend this book.

Good historical fiction
By Harley
This was not really what I expected but turned out to be a very enjoyable read. It is not a regency bodice ripper (which is what I intended to buy). It is a long saga of a woman's life, touching on those around her. If you like a solid, believable family saga and romance, then this is for you. Willow's struggles and triumphs are engaging. In some ways it reminded me of Catherine Cookson, other than here of course we are dealing with the gentry rather than the more middle and working class settings of her novels. It is well done and deserves the top rating.

Hauntingly Engaging
By Faye J. Louis
I found this book for sale for 50 cents in my public library. It's been sitting on my shelf for more than a year, than a profound boredom overtook me. Fortunately, the first book my eyes fell on was this one. It lured me in and so I began to read. I was hooked on page one!

This book is dark, moody, beautiful, emotional, and hauntingly engaging. I never leave a full review of a book when I do them, I tend to be vague and just want to describe what I read without giving anything away. I will still adhere to this rule, until I find a book it's just impossible to do for, but this book is scary and beautiful and you shouldn't miss it.

Like the amazon description says, Charlotte a young naive American heiress falls in love and marry the oldest
brother of an English family (who should be supposedly rich) who is bankrupt. Her family does not know, thus Charlotte does not know her husbands motivation to marry her (which is to save his family's blue blood name). She is young, naive and gullible. She believes him in everything and blinds herself to his cruel imperfections. He tries to keep her in the dark literally, from his life and those he know (again he needed her money only... no rich English women would marry him... he's broke).

I will stop here. You will get angry with the heroine, she makes herself look stupid. However, what 17 year old at that time wouldn't be if they married a rich and handsome English Barron?
